Used for decades as preservatives, parabens are now questioned for their potential hormone-like effects.

Although they are common, they are identified as sensitizing agents.

Beyond topical application, these molecules are poorly biodegradable. Once released, they persist in aquatic ecosystems, compromising the integrity of marine biodiversity. We exclude them to protect your skin and the environment.

A common preservative that may irritate the skin and is suspected of toxicity on the liver and the blood with repeated use. Recognized as an allergen, it can compromise the skin's protective barrier and can also create skin rashes.

A preservative known to cause skin irritation, allergies and ezcema. It has been named at some point “allergen of the year” by dermatologists. Scientific research suggests potential cellular neurotoxicity in cases of prolonged exposure.

Furthermore, its use is already restricted by European regulations in leave-on
products. We exclude MIT (and its variant, MCIT) from all our products, including our rinse-off products.

A synthetic preservative that may irritate sensitive skin and can cause a burning sensation, redness, and allergic reactions in some users. It raises environmental concerns as it can release some chlorinated by-products into nature, especially seawater.

An antibacterial agent initially used for cleaning in hospitals, it was incorporated into toothpastes, soaps, deodorants, and many cosmetics before its use came under scrutiny.

It is, in fact, suspected of being linked to hormone disruption and Its widespread use contributes to the emergence of antibiotic-resistant “superbacteria”, a global public health problem that renders certain medical treatments ineffective.

Because they are highly chemically stable, they are not completely removed when filtered. They accumulate in rivers and oceans, where they are highly toxic to aquatic life, particularly fish and algae.

Used to make skincare stable and long lasting, these synthetic antioxidants are controversial due to potential health (hormones disruption and carcinogenic risk), carcinogenic risk and environmental impact.

These two substances are bioaccumulative and toxic to aquatic organisms, accumulating in the food chain without breaking down easily.

We use natural Vitamin E instead.

They create a smooth feel but can block the skin and do not provide real, lasting benefits. They form a waterproof film on the surface of the skin. This occlusive effect can trap sebum and impurities, promoting the development of blemishes and preventing the skin from breathing naturally.

They also persist in the environment and in fresh water.

We prefer plant oils and butters such as olive oil and shea butter, that truly nourish the skin and are fully biodegradable.

They sit on the skin without nourishing it, they will make your skin suffocate adding a thin coat on your skin that prevent it from breathing.

Derived from a non-renewable and polluting resource, they will also have a strong impact on the environment.

We replace them with plant-based oils, like olive oil, rich in nutrients and more easily absorbed by the skin and the environment.

Cleansing agents that can strip the skin and cause dryness or irritation. Once released into wastewater, they are toxic to aquatic organisms and harm the biodiversity of rivers and oceans.

We use natural alternatives derived from sugar or coconut, much better tolerated.

May contain toxics substances (traces of byproducts generated during their synthesis) and weaken the skin barrier, making your skin more exposed to harmful substances and environment. They are also non-biodegradable and accumulate in fresh water reserves.

We avoid them in favor of natural emulsifiers.

A non-biodegradable ingredient used to prevent the color, odor, or foam of the product from breaking down, it is impossible to be filtered and ends up in the oceans altering the balance of the ecosystems.

We replace it with biodegradable alternatives made from beetroot and corn.

Derived from petroleum, used to stabilize fragrance, they may interfere with the endocrine system.

Like many petrochemical derivatives, they are persistent in the environment and accumulate in the tissues of marine organisms, thereby disrupting biodiversity.

Our fragrance is of natural origin, free from phtalates.

Gives a fresh feeling but can dry out the skin and weaken its protective barrier accelerating skin aging.

We avoid it and use gentler alternatives like floral waters.

Note: This alcohol should not be confused with “fatty alcohols”. These are plant-derived, non-irritating, and actually act as emollients to soften the skin.

Used a lot in make-up or cosmetics to bring long lasting effect and water resistant properties. 

Extremely persistent chemicals, they can stay in the water, the air and the soils forever, and will accumulate in the body and environment. We refuse to use them under any circumstances.
